Cui Bono?

Yeesh, the anti-semitic wing of the "Truth" brigade gets a bone from Netanyahu:

The Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv on Wednesday reported that Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu told an audience at Bar Ilan university that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks had been beneficial for Israel.

"We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq," Ma'ariv quoted the former prime minister as saying. He reportedly added that these events "swung American public opinion in our favor."

Let me say here that of course the Israelis benefited from 9-11. A Jewish friend of mine said only a few hours after the attack, "Well now you know what Israel goes through every day." He immediately apologized, noting that "every day" is a ridiculous overstatement. But we certainly discovered what it was like to be targeted by Arab terrorists.

And the Brits benefited from Pearl Harbor, and the Poles probably benefited from the Gulf of Tonkin.

Update: Well, whaddya know; one of the first people ranting about how Israel was involved in 9-11 is our old buddy, Jon Gold:

America has always been in Israel's "favor". You know Ben, one might think Israel may have had something to do with 9/11. Oh, guess what? There's reason to think so.

The post that Jon points to includes mention of supposed Mossad warnings to the US about a terrorist attack. Let's imagine how this warning went down:

Mossad Agent: Hey just want to let you guys know that we're getting buzz of a terrorist attack in the US.

CIA Agent: Are you referring to the terrorist attack that we're cooperating on next week?

Mossad Agent: Yeah, we'll have our guys filming the attacks and celebrating. Nobody will notice them.
